PRE-EVENT INFORMATION

Is the event going to be cancelled because of bad weather?

As things stand the event is still going ahead but we will continue to monitor the situation closely as the weather forecast becomes more certain.

Please rest assured that the safety of riders, spectators and volunteers is our absolute priority and we will keep you up to date as things develop. Please keep an eye out for further announcements which we will share via email and our social channels. We will update our website when we have more information to share – click on the button below.

Will my Rider Pack be posted to me?

All General Entry Riders will need to attend registration in person to collect their rider packs (or authorise a third party to collect it for them*) from Westgate Leisure Centre in Chichester on Saturday 22 September between 08:00 and 20:00.

Fast Track Riders and Business 100 Teams will have their rider packs posted to them 1 week before the event and will not need to attend registration.

* If you can’t personally collect your Rider Pack from Westgate Leisure Centre in Chichester then you can send someone else on your behalf. You will need to provide them with your Rider Number (issued approximately two weeks before the event), a photocopy of your ID (e.g. driving licence or passport) and a signed letter of consent.

*International riders will have to collect their Rider Pack*

My Fast Track / Business 100 Rider Pack has not arrived. What should I do?

Please note your Rider Pack may arrive as late as Friday 21 September. If it doesn’t arrive by then, we will have a spare pack ready for you to collect on either the Saturday (Westgate Leisure Centre, 8am to 8pm) or Sunday (Goodwood Motor Circuit, from 5.30am).

If collecting on the Sunday morning, you will be allowed to enter the SOUTH car park without a parking pass (as this will be in your Rider Pack which you will not have). You will be required to show the pass on exiting the car park after the ride so please keep hold of it.

*International riders will have to collect their Rider Pack*

Fast Track Riders and Business 100 Teams will have their Rider Packs posted to them 1 week before the event and will not need to attend registration.

If you are planning on arriving by car, then your best bet for car parking is Avenue De Chartres which is located right next to Westgate Leisure Centre. We don’t have exclusive use of this car park, so parking is subject to availability. We ask that riders do not park in the Waitrose car park.

Can I ride with friends?

You can view your start time right here. You can move back to a later wave but not forward to an earlier wave. You do not need to inform us if you decide to move back to a later wave.

What is the minimum speed riders must maintain?

To comply with road closure timings, riders will be expected to maintain an average speed of 18 kilometres/11 miles per hour.

To get you to the finish in good time we will have multiple feed and water stations, mechanical support, dozens of ‘Domestique’ helpers riding in the pack and cheering crowds across the route. The first riders will depart at 07:00, and all riders must be across the finish line by 18:00.

A sweep vehicle system will be in place to collect any riders who fall behind this time limit or otherwise cannot continue due to injury, fatigue, mechanical failure, etc.

When will I know my exact start time?

You can view your start time right here. You can move back to a later wave but not forward to an earlier wave. You do not need to inform us if you decide to move back to a later wave.

What food and drinks will be available at the Rider Pit Stops?

Rider Pit Stops will be well stocked with both sweet and savoury bites, fruit, water and energy products (gels and drink), providing participants with the opportunity to refuel and recharge during their ride. Whilst best endeavours are made to cater for all, if riders have specific nutritional or dietary requirements, we strongly recommend that they bring with them suitable sustenance for their ride.

What do you recommend people bring with them on the day?

We highly advise all riders to carry two water bottles with them at all time. Our Rider Pit Stops will be well stocked but if you have a preferred gel / snack / drink you’re used to training with then it is wise to pack some of these.

Our well-equipped domestiques will be out on the route to help riders, we recommend you bring the basics so you don’t have to wait for one of them. Items such as inner tubes, mini pump, tyre levers and a multi-tool.

Is there a bag drop?

We are unable to provide a bag drop facility for riders at Goodwood Motor Circuit. Riders are advised to leave their belongings in their car or at their accommodation.

Will there be shower facilities to use after the ride?

There are no shower facilities available for riders at Goodwood Motor Circuit.

Emergency Services will be operating as usual and the public should use normal protocol in the case of an emergency.

Specific Road Closure information can be found by clicking here.

We will do all we can to provide you with more information on how you can best navigate your way around the road closures. If you have any queries regarding the route and subsequent road closures please email route@velosouth.com.
